THE KANHA EXPERIENCE

More Than a Safari

Kanha is about more than searching for a tiger. It is the magic of driving through golden meadows shrouded in morning mist, hearing alarm calls echo through towering sal trees, and stepping into the timeless wilderness that inspired The Jungle Book.

Every drive holds a new discovery. Some deliver heart-pounding encounters with apex predators; others reward patience with herds of endangered Barasingha grazing across vast maidans, quiet forest streams, and moments of unscripted wild beaut

When to Visit

Kanha

Winter & Early Summer

October – February

Crisp morning air and comfortable safari weather. The open maidans remain lush and green post-monsoon, offering breathtaking scenery and ideal conditions for birdwatching and barasingha sightings.

Warmer Months

March – June

Rising temperatures dry out the underbrush and cause water sources to recede. Thinner vegetation significantly increases wildlife visibility, drawing tigers and other mammals out to open waterholes.

Things to Know Before Your Safari

Dress Comfortably
Choose comfortable, breathable clothing and carry an additional warm layer for early morning safaris, especially during cooler months.

Carry the Essentials
Binoculars, camera equipment, sun protection, comfortable footwear, water and personal medication.

Photography
A telephoto lens is useful for wildlife photography, while a wider lens can help capture the forest and surrounding landscape.

Be Patient
Wildlife sightings are unpredictable. The experience is about observing the forest, not simply finding a tiger.

Respect the Forest
Follow safari rules, maintain silence around wildlife and never attempt to influence animal behaviour for photographs.
